As an educator in the Leon County school system for over 33 years, I've seen firsthand the challenges facing our families, students, and teachers. I care deeply about the health, safety, welfare, and education of all students and will work to make sure all are served and represented.
It is with great excitement that I announce that I am running to be your next Leon County School Board member! As a native of Tallahassee, having attended Ruediger, Griffin, and Leon, then teaching in the Leon County school system for 33 years, and being a parent with a child educated in the Leon County schools, I have a unique perspective on the challenges facing our families, students, and teachers. My passion is for the health, safety, welfare, and education of all our students. I have served on numerous committees and boards and have served in youth ministry at church as a teacher and leader for over 35 years. My parents were incredible role models and taught me to love God, family, and others and to live a life of serving all those with whom we come in contact.
I am running because I believe our schools can be better. I believe when we engage families, elevate students, and innovate education, our school system will thrive. Join me in working towards a brighter tomorrow for the students, teachers, and families of Leon County.
Sincerely,

Research shows students that have families involved do better in school. I plan to develop stronger partnerships with families and mentors in schools to help our kids reach their potential both in and out of the classroom
Being in the classroom for all these years has instilled in me the importance of offering great training for teachers in innovative and engaging teaching strategies. My goal is to help teachers feel supported, prepared, and excited to continue educating in Leon County.
Extracurricular activities are vital to strong schools and communities. We need to continue to fund, support, and prioritize those programs.
I believe we owe it to our parents and stakeholders to be transparent with policies that affect our students. I want to make sure everyone feels empowered and informed.
I know what our schools, teachers, students, and families have been facing the last few years. I plan to help Leon County come back stronger than ever by getting us back to what's most important: educating our students. The past few years have led many students to fall through the cracks of our system. Now it's time to work hard to get those students back on track and ensure every child feels safe and has the tools they need to thrive.
Students and staff have a right to feel safe in their school. As a career educator, school safety is very close to my heart. We must continue working with our local partners and Safety and Security to ensure all students and staff are safe in their schools.
